Smile :) Šypsena
:-)
Does anyone knows what was the begining for the so called smile symbol :-)?
It seems that this "smile" is celebrating its 25th birthday.
According to cnn.com university professor was the first one to use this symbol.
Just think about what it would be to communicate over internet without this and lots of other emotions expressed in symbols.
Today even the first lithuanian radio station said about this event :-)
*Lygiai prieš 25-erius metus Carnegie Mellon universiteto profesorius Scott E. Fahlman kompiuterinėje žinutėje pirmą kart panaudojo tris simbolius, reiškiančius besišypsantį veidelį.

According to cnn.com university professor was the first one to use this symbol.
Twenty-five years ago, Carnegie Mellon University professor Scott E.
Fahlman says, he was the first to use three keystrokes -- a colon followed by a
hyphen and a parenthesis -- as a horizontal "smiley face" in a computer
message.
Language experts say the smiley face and other emotional icons, known as
emoticons, have given people a concise way in e-mail and other electronic
messages of expressing sentiments that otherwise would be difficult to
detect.
Just think about what it would be to communicate over internet without this and lots of other emotions expressed in symbols.
What emoticons do is essentially provide a mechanism to transmit emotion when you don't have the voice.

Mielieji,

Tytuvenai
Tytuvenai
I believe a lot of Lithuanian people know Siluva (small town in Lithuania, where St. Mary manifested in 1608. This was the first time when St. Mary did it in Europe. There is one more special thing about this place. Siluva is the only place in the world where St. Mary has manifested together with her babe Jesus), but maybe not so many know Tytuvenai. It's another small town which is only 7 km distance from Siluva. Tytuvenai is famous of nice baroque church. There was also Bernardines' monestery in former times. There are some more interesting facts about it (http://vienuolynai.mch.mii.lt/V8-46/Tytbernar.htm, sorry, only in Lithuanian), but I wanna show you some pictures:

Top Gear polar
Yesterday I got the chance to watch "Top Gear" special program.
( Top Gear probably is the best car show in Britain. )
This time the program was about journey to the North Pole. I would say that was quite interesting to watch, because of the extreme challenges and other things that might be seen on this program :). The question was Who will make it to the North Pole first? The one who is using a car to get there, or the one who is using dogs and othe equipment that is necessary for that kind of trip.
It was very exiting to watch what difficulties they ar facing and how hard is to survive under minus 65 degrees temperature. At first I thought that travelling with the car might be very easy. But it seams that it is not so. There might be lots of reasos for that, for example, too thin ice, lots of snow and etc... There was a few momemts then these travelling with a car were thinking that they are not going to make it to the end.
In such a conditions it's so difficult to build even a tent especially then you are so tired after all day working to get you couple of miles a head.
So in short I think that was worth of watching it.:)
Ques, who is the most likely to be the winner?
The car and it's drivers there faster...:)
