Lithuanian beach, sand might be suitable place for parties or calm relaxation as any other Europe's beach. According to "The Guardian" "Kuršių Nerija" is one of the most interesting beaches in Europe. "The Guardian" makes it second in its top ten list.
A narrow finger of land poking into the Baltic Sea, the 98km-long Curonian Spit is one of Europe's more unlikely beach destinations.
The first place is for the Cala d‘en Serra Ibiza's (Spain) most famous beach.
The third place is for the Poland, the beach at Caños de Meca curves inland from the Cabo de Trafalgar.

Lietuvos pajūris

Lietuvos paplūdimys gali būti idomus ir tinkamas vakarėliams kaip ir bet kuris kitas Europos paplūdimys. "The Guradian" sudarytame įdomiausių paplūdimių dešimtuke Lietuvos Kuršių Nerija pateko į antrąją vietą.
Pirmoji vieta atiteko Cala d‘en Serra paplūdimiui Ibizoje (Ispanija) ten galima džiaugtis gyventojų draugiškumu, nuošalumu, balto smėlio paplūdimiais ir pajūrio barais.
"The Guardian" taip pat įvardijo ir pagrindiniais Kuršių nerijos privalumus , tai kopas, pajūrio kaimelius, gintaro suvenyrus bei ramybę, kuri vilioja poilsiautojus čia pasilikti.
Trečioji vieta skirta Lietuvos kaimynės Lenkijos paplūdimiui.
Taigi ir Lietuvoje yra kuo pasidžiaugti ieškant poilsio pajūryje. :)

Just think about it again

...some people is just dreaming and saying "oh it's just a dream... it'll never come true" and there is other people who looks happy because their dreams are comig true. did you ever think why is so? if you want all your dreams can come true just you shouldn't think " oh it's just a dream..it'll never come true" it was first step to make your dream reallity. Just think about it

...people are saying that it is beter do not make plans for future, they are saying that then plans have tendency to fall down. Maybe it is true. BUT i think there is one plan, the best one, suitale for everything and everyone - THE PLAN "NO PLAN" :D yes the best plan "there is no plan" if it fall down - it will be jus a part of the plan :) it is the same like RULES - " NO RULES" :)

I ques that after the Olympics the main theme should be differrent. Is it logical to keep Olympical theme, after the end of this years Olympics, to represent Lithuania?. This website should represent earlier stated brave country idea.

Olympics 2008 openning

Once again about this year's Olympics. Today it is the openning day.
Here is some information about lithuanians, this year Lithuania has 71 sportsman in the Olympics. The official website tells that, Jasikevicius will take Saulius Stombergas' place, his former teammate who carried Lithuania's flag in Athens. "I didn't expect it, but what I can I say, it's a great honor."
So let's watch the openning ceremony.. :)

Olimpiada 2008 šiandien

Sulaukėme ir Olimpiados atidarymo, jis turėtų būti šiandien 15:00 val..:). Lietuvos sportininkų skaičius šioje Olimpiadoje – 71 (59 individualių sporto šakų atstovai ir 12 krepšininkų), jie varžysis 16-oje sporto šakų. Iš viso šalies olimpinę rinktinę kartu su treneriais, medikais ir vadovais sudaro apie 120 asmenų.
Kaip jau visi tikriausiai gerai žino, šiemet olimpiada vyksta Kinijos sostinėje Pekine ir prasideda rugpjūčio mėnesį, 8 dieną 8 valandą 8 minutės ir 8 sekundės (2008-08-08 08:08:08) vietos laiku (2008-08-08 15:08:08 Lietuvos laiku).

Remiantis Verslo Žiniomis, lietuvos olimpiečiai 29-osios olimpiados žaidynių atidarymo parade, kuriame dalyvaus 204 olimpinės delegacijos, žygiuos 57-ta. Lietuvos vėliavą žaidynių atidarymo parade neš krepšininkas Šarūnas Jasikevičius. Prieš ketverius metus Lietuvos delegacijos priešakyje žygiavo krepšininkas Saulius Štombergas.

Prieš Lietuvos atletus eis Indonezijos atstovai, o po lietuvių žygiuos Nigerio sportininkai. Latviai žygiuos 114-ti, estai - 160-ti.

Olimpinių žaidynių metu vyks 28 sporto šakų 302 rungtys, viena rungtimi daugiau nei Atėnų žaidynėse. Lietuviai savo ruožtu dalyvaus 16-oje. Šiemet Olimpiadoje dalyvaus 205 valstybės. Planuojamas sportininkų skaičius joje – 10.500.

Mozilla Labs has put out a call for anyone in the world to share their vision of how they would like to see the browser, or the web in general, look and act in the future.
The mentioned project will track down and share future web concepts submitted through a very simple process.
According to Mozilla, readwriteweb, there is SO much potential for improvement in user interfaces. Changes in the interface that lets us to interact on the internet could lead to different user experience. Various new technologies, such as, Adobe AIR newsticker could be one of the elements in more rich user experience on the web.

2008 Olympics online

As we all know The Beijing Olympics starts in a couple of days.
Due to this event there some websites trying to stream Olympics on the web. The New York Times reported today that NBC will stream 2,200 hours of live events across 25 sports on NBCOlympics.com. According to the NYT, NBC will use the Internet to "send out mass quantities of video in high resolution". The only catch is that the coverage will only be available to users in the United States, because that's the only place where NBC has rights to broadcast the Olympics.
Despite the geographical limitations, NBC is promising lots of 'new media' features in its Web coverage. These include: Users will have access to statistics, biographies and other information;
Users have the ability to watch whatever sport they want, unlike on TV where you get what the broadcaster dishes up; and more other features.
There is one more website that is going to stream Olympics online. Today, Adobe announced a partnership with CCTV International Networks Co, Ltd. to deliver Web coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to fans throughout mainland China and Macau.
According to readwriteweb, CCTV.com owns the online video rights to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games for mainland China and Macau.

Kaip visi tikriausiai gerai žino, po kelių dienų turėtų prasidėti 2008- ųjų metų olimpiada. Šis renginys žada būti transliuojamas ir internetu. Kaip šiandien rašoma New York Times, NBC tiesiogiai transliuos apie 2,200 valandų įvykių iš 25 sporto šakų. Deja, yra vienas kabliukas. Tiesioginės transliacijos bus prieinamas tik USA gyventojams, nes NBC turi teisę į tiesiogines transliacijas tik šiame regione.
Nepaisant geografinių apribojimų NBC žada gana daug "Naujosios medios" galimybių nušviečiant olimpiados įvykius. Knol Experts

Do you know such websites like Squidoo lensmasters or Wikipedia? There is one more. Google had opened up Knol, its Wikipedia competitor, to the public. It had announced a private beta of the service last December.
So is Knol a competitor to Wikipedia.? One of the oppinions might be related with the fact that Google Knol might be promoted by leader of search engine market. And this might cause some hard times to other similar websites. On the other hand Wikipedia has some authority so far. It could be the strong argument for choosing Wikipedia's articles. But non anonymous articles could have there own plus.
Let's take the different perspective to this. Maybe the bigger amount on internet encyclopedias could be useful and for the readers. For example that could cause the creation of more specific internet encyclopedias. The information from various sources could be more complex, more comprehensive.
In addition, I have to say, that Google get quite lots of attention on the web these days. Various blogs even dedicate one of the week days to write only about Google news...

Šia savaitę viešai startavo internete jau anonsuota Google enciklopedija Knol. Įvairūs tinklalapiai ir tinklaraščiai pradėjo lyginti internetines enciklopedijas tokias kaip Wikipedia, Squidoo lensmasters. Trumpai apibendrinant galima būtų pasakyti, jog Knol sistemoje staripsniai žada būti autoriniai. Tai galėtų būti vienas iš privalumų, lyginant su anonimiais straipsniais. Taip pat tikriausiai galima tikėtis ir to, jog paieškos sistemoje Knol įrašai gali būti iškeliami aukščiau. Pažvelgus iš vartotojų pusės į šį reikalą tikriausiai galima pamatyti ir pozityvių dalykų. Enciklopedijų daugėjimas internete gali paskatinti siauresnės specializacijos žynynų atsiradimą. Tikslesnės, išsamesnės informacijos pateikimo ta pačia tema skirtinguose šaltiniuose. Galiausiai gali būti naudinga palyginti informaciją tuo pačiu klausimu iš kelių enciklopedijų. Taigi ateityje gal būt sulauksime galimybes naudotis daugiau atvirų internetinių enciklopedijų.

Old mobile phones are lying in drawers

There is quite interesting research frorm Nokia. According to this research only 3% of people recycle their mobile phones despite the fact that most have old devices lying around at home that they no longer want, according to a global consumer survey released by Nokia today. Three out of every four people added that they don't even think about recycling their devices and nearly half were unaware that it is even possible to do so.

The survey is based on interviews with 6,500 people in 13 countries including Finland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden, UK, United Arab Emirates, USA, Nigeria, India, China, Indonesia and Brazil. This research might show some consumers' attitudes and behaviors towards recycling.

According to, Markus Terho, Director of Environmental Affairs, Markets, at Nokia said, "It is clear from this survey that when mobile devices finally reach the end of their lives that very few of them are recycled. Many people are simply unaware that these old and unused mobiles lying around in drawers can be recycled or how to do this. Nokia is working hard to make it easier, providing more information and expanding our global take-back programs." He added, "If each of the three billion people globally owning mobiles brought back just one unused device we could save 240,000 tonnes of raw materials and reduce greenhouse gases to the same effect as taking 4 million cars off the road. By working together, small individual actions could add up to make a big difference."

Atlikta apklausa, kuria buvo siekiama nustatyti ar seni telefonai atiduodami perdirbimui, atskleista, jog tik 3 % apklaustųjų pasinaudoja senos įrangos perdirbimu. Mobiliųjų telefonų perdirbimas leistų sutaupyti gamybai reikalingų žaliavų ar prisidėtų prie šiltnamio efekto mažinimo. Gerai išvystytas mobiliųjų telefonų perdirbimas galėtų duoti teigiamų rezultatų.

Mozilla has announced today, that today they received confirmation from Guinness World Records that we’ve officially achieved the record for the “largest number of software downloads in 24 hours.” From 18:16 UTC on June 17, 2008 to 18:16 UTC on June 18, 2008, 8,002,530 people downloaded Firefox 3!

This weekend there was quite a big party at Kaunas, orgamized by bikers. The party included lots of action. For example, "Enduro" cross country race championship, shootout dragrace, also there was and a concert with lithuanian and foreign performers. Nokia 6212 classic

There is a quite interesting phone from Nokia. Today was introduced the Nokia 6212 classic featuring integrated Near Field Communication (NFC). The 3G handset allows consumers to conveniently share content, access services and information as well as conduct payments and ticketing with one tap of the device. The Nokia 6212 classic is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2008 in select markets in Europe and Asia with an estimated retail price of EUR 200 before taxes and subsidies.

"NFC-capable handsets such as the Nokia 6212 classic are set to change the way mobile phone users interact with devices and services in their surroundings," says Jeremy Belostock, the Head of Near Field Communications, Nokia. "With the Nokia 6212 classic, people can swap items like business cards or calendar notes by simply tapping their handsets together. With ever-increasing device functions and services available, ease-of-use is essential. One way to keep things simple is NFC."

According to Nokia, Near Field Communication is designed for intuitive, simple and safe interaction between electronic devices. By tapping an NFC-enabled tag, consumers can receive new content such as weblinks, audio files or contact data directly to their phone. They can activate a profile in their handset or open applications such as FM radio or web browser. Photos and videos can be easily shared by tapping another NFC-capable phone and pairing with a Bluetooth NFC-enabled device, like the new NFC variant of the Nokia BH-210 headset, happens with just one touch. The lightweight Nokia BH-210 with NFC headset allows users to access all functions easily with a single multifunction key. The widely compatible headset can be used with a number of Nokia devices as well as other manufacturers' phones.

World’s First dual-SIM Windows Mobile Smartphones

Some time ago there was an article about dual-SIM mobile phones here. And there are some more news about dual - SIM phones again, but this time it is about so called smartphones.

One of the firts dual sim mobile phones is Samsung D780. Now we have some news, that HKC made quite a surprise with what they’re calling the world’s first dual-SIM Windows Mobile smartphones. The design of the W1000 and G1000 (the former being dual CDMA and GSM, the latter dual GSM) may not light any new aesthetic fires, but their functionality is quite reasonable: a 200MHz Qualcomm CPU, 256MB ROM and 64MB RAM, microSD slot and USB, crowned by a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen.

One of the reason why it is interesting is the ability to not only have two SIM cards fitted but to access them at the same time (or, in the case of the W1000, registered to a CDMA account as well as have a GSM SIM in place), including being able to separately deactivate one or the other from the Windows Mobile interface. That way it is possible to keep personal account active, but avoid the office calling you by turning off your business account.

Both versions are apparently available now, with 2-megapixel cameras, Bluetooth (with the A2DP wireless stereo profile) and the usual WM office suite. No WiFi or GPS, which HKC lose marks for, though there is a dedicated stock market hotkey.

It seems like every week scientists invent something new. One of the such inventions might be tiny machines.
According to dailytech.com, Researchers with the International Center for Young Scientists in Tsukuba, Japan have invented what has been dubbed a "nano - brain". The tiny chemical brain is only 2 nm across. The researchers envision the nanobrain controlling swarms of useful nanorobots to kill viruses and cancer cells. The article gives and some examples as a proof, that scientist can control those machines. Such a machines might be used and in computing, making personal computers able to deal with a bigger number of tasks at one time.
While you might not see the chemical nano-brain in the next round of personal computers processors, it remains a promising breakthrough in nanotechnology, that hopefully brings us one step closer to curing disease through microscopic helpers..

Let's talk a bit about online video.

Hulu, an online video service, announced the public launch of its Web site, Hulu.com, that was yesterday.

As it is said in Hulu's press release, consumers in the U.S. can go to Hulu.com to watch a large selection of hit TV shows, movies, clips and more in high-quality – anytime, for free. In addition, Hulu announced new content partnerships with the Warner Bros. Television Group, Lionsgate, NBA, NHL and more than 20 other top content providers. New content additions to Hulu’s library will include: feature films like The Usual Suspects and Ice Age, shows like Dirt, The Incredible Hulk, Babylon 5, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The Dick Van Dyke Show, nightly highlights, top plays and full-length games from the NBA and the NHL, popular made for web programming such as Prom Queen and Onion News Network, and much more.

This sounds quite greate, but there is one "but", it is said that this is for the U.S. consumers. I have tried to watch a TV show "Nanny and the Professor" and I got the message "Unfortunately this video is not curently available in your country or region. We apologize for the inconvenience." So this is not available in Europe.

At first look seems to be quite not bad site. Is there something like that in Europe?:)

Morph - Nanotechnology mobile phone

Back with a quite interesting announcement from Nokia.

Nokia Research Center (NRC) and the University of Cambridge (UK) have developed Morph - a joint nanotechnology concept. It was launched last month alongside the "Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

Morph is a concept that demonstrates how future mobile devices might be stretchable and flexible, allowing the user to transform their mobile device into radically different shapes. According to Nokia press release It demonstrates the ultimate functionality that nanotechnology might be capable of delivering: flexible materials, transparent electronics and self-cleaning surfaces. Dr. Bob Iannucci, Chief Technology Officer, Nokia, commented: "Nokia Research Center is looking at ways to reinvent the form and function of mobile devices; the Morph concept shows what might be possible".

So maybe in the near future we might expect and more nanotechnology concepets from Nokia.

According to gsmarena, Nokia 8800 Arte is the next hot stylish phone that is already available. Made of exquisite materials it continues the tradition of the luxurious 8-series but adds something of its own too.
Beside 3G functionality, the handset also flaunts a 3 megapixel camera with auto focus. No memory card slot yet, but the 1GB of internal memory might just do the trick this time. The Nokia 8800 Arte comes dressed in black while the panel is covered by goat hide from Eastern India, which is manually embossed and has several protective coats to prevent the daily wear-and-tear.

Nokia latest service called "Comes with music" will give Nokia users a 1 year free subscription to the service which allows unlimited music downloads to your mobile phone and PC. When the year expires, you get to keep the music.
According to gsmarena it's first of a kind service. We might be wondering where the trick is as it might sound too good to be true. It's not yet clear which Nokia handsets will receive the service for free.
The music downloading fiesta will obviously begin somewhere in mid-2008.
According to gsmarena it seems that, you can keep the tracks after the 1-year-free-subscription expires, however they are all DRM protected, so you can forget about listening these songs on other music players beside your Nokia phone. In case you want to transfer them to other media, you'll have to buy all the tracks.

Naujausiais duomenimis, per dieną Lietuvoje išsiunčiama apie 26,5 milijono trumpųjų žinučių, pasaulyje šis skaičius siekia apie 6 milijardus. Prognozuojama, kad per artimiausius trejus metus išsiunčiamų žinučių kiekiai įvairiose šalyse didės nuo 8 proc. iki 26 proc. kasmet.

Šiandien SMS naudojimo pavyzdžių aptinkama įvairiose srityse: trumpąja žinute galima užsisakyti paslaugų, gauti reklaminius pasiūlymus, informaciją apie sąskaitas, duomenis iš telemetrijos įrenginių, balsuoti televizijos laidoje ar atisiskaityti už automobilio stovėjimą.

Taip pat auga ir iliustruotų žinučių, MMS, srautai. Prognozuojama, kad per šiuos metus pasaulyje išsiųstų SMS kiekis sieks iki 2 trilijonų, o šios paslaugos pajamos pasauliniu mastu 2 kartus viršys Holivudo pajamas. 2010-aisias pasaulyje turėtų būti išsiųsta daugiau kaip 3 trln. trumpųjų žinučių, o 2012-aisiais šis skaičius išaugs beveik iki 4 trilijonų.

Pasak tinklalapių dailytech ir slashphone, "Google" išplatino SDK bibliotekas kurios reikalingos norint kurti programas kompanijos pristatytai "Android" mobiliųjų telefonų operacinei sistemai. Jas visi norintieji gali parsisiųsti nemokamai ir čia pat pabandyti sukurti kokią naudingą programėlę.

Nokia N81

Nokia N81 the quad-band GSM/EDGE and UMTS enabled Symbian smartphone is 17.6 mm thick and weighs 140 g. It boasts a 2.4" TFT display with QVGA resolution, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g with UPnP support and a microSD slot. Nokia N81 is the first device on the new N-Gage platform and sports dedicated gaming keys. A 2 megapixel camera with flash, also shooting VGA videos at 15fps, and a secondary CIF one for video calls are onboard. There is also a microUSB port and an audio/video 3.5 mm jack. Currently, it can be found online for around EUR 360.

Gsmarena and Nokia websites says, that Nokia 7900 is a fashionable phone running on the Series 40 3rd Edition user interface. As s design-centered phone, it comes with some interesting light effects and features a geometric pattern design. The Nokia 7900 sports a 2" QVGA OLED display supporting up to 16 million colors, but the available 49 illumination colors both for the display and the keypad will certainly suit almost every taste. In addition, the Nokia 7900 Prism features "living" wallpaper, which changes dynamically according to the time of day, with the battery and signal strength status icons creating unique graphics for your home screen. In terms of connectivity, Nokia 7900 Prism has quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support plus dual-band UMTS. In addition to a 2 megapixel camera with flash, the Nokia 7900 Prism comes with 1GB of internal memory (no memory card slot available). As in other most recent Nokia phones, the 7900 Prism uses a microUSB port for data transfers, a less popular connectivity port as compared to the widely accepted miniUSB. Currently, it can be found online for around EUR 310.

According to gsmarena, this phone sports a classic metallic design and is meant for business, as what one can expect from an E-series model, plus some extras on top. The phone is quad-band GSM and supports GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA (3.6 Mbps). Other wireless connectivity includes Infrared, Bluetooth 2.0 and WLAN, while the wired connectivity set sports microUSB v2.0 full speed and a 2.5mm audio jack. A 2 megapixel camera capable of video recording and an MP3 player, FM radio, as well as the supported A2DP Bluetooth profile completes the multimedia capabilities in the phone. The display on E51 is a 2" 16M color one that supports QVGA resolution, while the internal memory of 130MB is further expandable through the microSD card slot. Currently, it can be found online at approximately EUR 350.

Some interesting figures about mobile TV viewers. According slashphone, Asia-Pacific is leading the adoption of mobile TV broadcasting. About 38 million viewers - almost 78 percent of the total mobile TV audience - was found in Japan and South Korea in mid-2007. These markets are several years ahead of Europe and North America where the development in most cases has been very slow.
The significant costs involved in establishing the infrastructure needed for dedicated mobile broadcast networks is expected to hold back large-scale launching of these in the greater part of Europe for a few more years. The report plays down the relevance of the current mobile TV standards war, predicting that multi-standard handsets and chips will eventually reduce choice of underlying network to a technical consideration only concerning the manufacturers and network operators.

Gmail 2.0

Gmail - "Google" kompanijai priklausanti nemokama elektroninio pašto sistema. Pagal dailytech.com tinklalapį, "Google" pranešė planuojantys iš esmės atnaujinti "Gmail" el. pašto sistemą.

Atnaujinta - iš naujo programuota, sistema vadinsis "Gmail 2.0". Kompanijos atstovai teigia, jog vartotojų pasitenkinimas naudojant antros kartos "Gmail" padidėja apie 70%. Jei pasitenkinimas naudojantis sistema gali taip ženkliai padidėti, gal ir iš tikrųjų naujoji sistema bus daug patogesnė.

Teigiama, kad atnaujinant "Gmail" buvo orientuojamasi į greitesnį veikimą bei patogesnį kontaktų tvarkymą. "Gmail 2.0" versijas bandę testuotojai teigia, jog naujoji sistema gerokai vikresnė.

Spėjama, jog atnaujintas "Gmail" paštas bus pristatytas dar šiais metais arba kitų metų pradžioje.
